Ομιλητής: George Varelis, PhD Specialist Engineer, INTECSEA UK
Τίτλος: Subsea Equipment for Hydrocarbon Transmission
Περιγραφή: The development of subsea hydrocarbon transmission systems is a multi-disciplinary engineering challenge that relies on the use of specific safety-critical components. In this presentation the main factors affecting the subsea system architecture are discussed and the key features of a subsea development are presented. The presentation details the functionality of subsea wellheads, Christmas trees, valves, flowlines, umbilicals, risers and pipelines. For those components, the main design considerations are also presented.

Dr George E. Varelis is a graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Thessaly (2007). He completed his post-graduate and doctorate studies at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Thessaly (2013), specialising in Computational Structural Mechanics. In 2013, he relocated to the UK, where he has been employed as Principal Engineer for PDL Solutions (Europe) Ltd., Newcastle, UK (2013-2019) and Specialist Engineer for INTECSEA UK, Woking, UK (2019-present). He has served as the Chairman of the Society of Underwater Technology – North of England branch (2019).
